Managing Project Details

Creating a New Project

There are two different ways to create new projects in Silverbucket:

1) Click 'Projects' on the main navigation bar and choose  “Add a project”
2) In Projects > Listing or Projects > Allocations click on the "Add a project" button found in the top-right corner.

Both of these forward you to a popup window in which at least three mandatory fields need to be filled for the project: project’s name, customer and project manager. When you have filled all the necessary information you can create the project by clicking 'Save'. Simultaneously you will be directed to the project's dashboard unless you choose the “save and stay on this page” option, which allows you to stay on the site you were previously working on.
After creating a new project, you can add multiple additional project information at the project's dashboard, such as start and end date, budget (income & hour), project tags, probability (prospect projects), a project description and so on.

Handling Duplicate Projects (Projects Found Twice in the System)

Before doing any quick actions, think first if you want to just purely delete or inactivate the extra project(s) and its content or do you want to move all allocations and resources to the right project?

1) If you want to inactivate or delete the extra project and not move its allocations, you can go the project's dashboard and change the project status as "Archived" and reassure that you want to inactivate the project.

2) If you want to merge the extra project with the 'right' project, go to the action row on the project's dashboard and click "Merge to another project". Choose the project that will be the final existing project.

Merge to another project adds the current project's allocations, actual hours, budgets, price models, tags, portfolios, milestones and users to the desired destination project. Source project will be permanently deleted. If the merge action is not available for you, contact your organization's main Silverbucket user.

3) Latest Silverbucket versions also allow you to hard delete the project by navigating over to the project's dashboard and clicking the 'Edit Project' button found in the top-right. Use with caution.

The "Right" Project Type

The project type can be set in the project dashboard.  As a reminder:

Absence projects reflect holidays
Non-invoiceable projects mean other than project work, such as meetings and trainings (internal projects usually)
Invoiceable projects stand for the actual project work

Changing the Project Manager

If you want to change the project manager of a project head over to the project's dashboard and check that you have the "basic info" tab visible. You can find the Project Manager -information under the the basic information section, and by clicking the current project manager's name you get a list of people. In this  view you can find the new project manager and choose her as the new project manager for the project.
